Watts 9BD Backflow Preventer - 3/8" MFL x 3/8" MFL Check Valve

The Watts 9BD Backflow Preventer is a critical safety component for commercial beverage systems. Featuring 3/8" Male Flare (MFL) connections, this valve is designed to prevent the reverse flow of carbonated water or syrup into the potable water supply, protecting against contamination and copper leaching. The 9BD series is engineered for high-pressure systems and features an atmospheric vent to signal seal failure. Essential for maintaining compliance with local health and plumbing codes in soda fountain and carbonated water installations.

Technician's Note: Install this valve inline between the water source and the carbonator pump. Ensure the flow arrow on the body points toward the beverage equipment. The 3/8" MFL connections allow for a tool-free, gas-tight seal using standard swivel nuts and flare washers. If water begins to drip from the atmospheric vent, the internal seals have failed and the unit should be replaced immediately.
